Oldies but goodies that got you hummin today

Postby tommy525 » 14 Jul 2012, 13:33

These last few days heard this song on pandora by Scooter, a German techno band doing a remake of one of my fav Tracy Huang songs from 1980. I thought he sucked tho honestly, the minnie mouse singing was better then his gawdawful rap shitzle. And i thought its so typical of non english speaking DJ acting all cool and shit and not being able to speak english. When he said "its weekend" . I was thinking. Now it should be "its THE weekend" and not "its weekend" and brought to my mind how euro dance is still gonna be euro crap if the english aint at least correct man.

Anyway, my mistake because the song is actually called WEEKEND. The jokes on me.

Anyhow, judge for yourself. Heres Scooter and his cover of WEEKEND by the Dutch band Earth and Fire (a take off of Earth , Wind and Fire? The American band)\

( really think he sucks big tho, sorry)

And heres the Tracy Huang version i liked a whole lot back in 80 . Also partly cuz shes sounds exactly like one of my girlfriends back then. But her version is really a straight copy rather then a cover of the original, with all the same intonations etc. Shes got to lose those gawdawful back up dancers tho. a big UGH there.

And heres the Dutch original . This gal went on to become quite well known and even a playboy mate. Her song was the groups biggest hit and hit number one in a few countries in 79.

I like her little dance. Performances were sure simple back then. Shes not singing tho. Lip syncing even back then.

well in keeping with the spirit of this thread, you would have to post 3 different versions by 3 different groups of the SAME crap song :)

For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way. Something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life -- FR ALFRED D'SOUZA
