UPDATE 2013 May 29 - He was on the cover of NEXT magazine this week with a 3 page story inside with pics and something about after 7 years of marriage,
the seven year itch hits the couple, Chris and his wife Phoebe Huang, a TV talent. The APPLE DAILY had a story today too. But it's all bagua and gossip and
they chose the worst possible photos of his wife to make her look frumpy and angry - since the "story" is about an alleged bar girl romance -- and sad that NEXT
would attack Chris this way. For sure, they never got his side of the story.

Congrats to him, now that he's been slandered by Next Magazine he's a full-fledged Taiwan 藝人！ Way to go, buddy.

I'm a mahjong fanatic, so much so that when I'm not playing I'm watching it on TV (至尊百家樂 channel 38). Chris Downs is only the second Western foreigner I've seen play on that show. His Chinese is impressive, and he seems like a nice guy, but his clownish shtick that I saw on the show annoyed me quickly. Eh, I guess that's what Taiwanese audiences want.

He seems like he'd be a cool guy to hang out with. But since he comes off as decently intelligent and speaks good Chinese, I can't help but feel that being what essentially equates to a performing circus monkey (藝人, that is) means he's not exercising his full potential. Ahh, well, as long as he's happy.
