I love California and it will always be my home, and its people my people. But this, really?! Unacceptable. :noway:

Where Are The Protests Against the Killing of Shaima Al Awadi?
A muslim mother of four gets beaten to death in her California home and left with the message "Go back to your country, you terrorist." But there won't be a million hijab march for her.

Forty thousand Iraqis live in El Cajon, California, where this week, Shaima Al Awadi, a devout Muslim mother of five, died after being beaten inside her home with a tire iron and left next to note reading “Go back to your country, you terrorist.” Coming on the heels of the Trayvon Martin killing in Florida, there would seem to be many parallels between the two crimes—the hate speech, the prejudice, the innocence of the victims. A One Million Hijabs for Shaima Al Awadi page has even been launched on Facebook, but it’s doubtful that the movement will really catch on because Iraqis still considered dangerous infiltrators in the eyes of Americans.

Holy Crap! That's awful.

May the perpetrators get caught and sent...

Well, if there was true justice, they'd be sentenced to death. So, I can only hope that they get 'life' in the worst prison in the US.

The only parallel I see is millions of people drawing conclusions when nobody really knows WTF happened.

May justice prevail (in spite of the knee jerks).

What knee-jerk reaction?

She was murdered. We want the perps taken down. It's called justice.

The other case is less clear.

The death penalty is not justice, it's barbaric revenge.

Have you seen what it's like to be in prison?

Death would be more merciful.

Possibly, given the methodology, but it however IS a solution to a problem that has no end or universal answer.

Are you kidding? The author herself immediately frames both incidences as being rooted in raciscm.

there would seem to be many parallels between the two crimes—the hate speech, the prejudice, the innocence of the victims.

Truth is we have no idea, it's possible that the racist note was just a diversion. I do hope justice is served, I just hate the blind assumptions being made.

http://www.torontosun.com/2012/03/02/man-who-testified-in-shafia-trial-shunned-by-family
Just this month a Canadian man was sentenced for murdering his family in an honor killing, because they "Embraced Western Culture". A relative is now being shunned because he had the nerve to testify and help bring them to justice, classy. Just a hunch but I'm guessing there will be no protests from the muslim community denouncing the practice of "honor killings".
