Distributing Lies (?)

There is a radical Islam movement distributing 25 Million Koran copies in Germany at the moment.

It is quite funny to look at an image taken in Berlin from an English point of view....

Die Islamists wrote "LIES !" on the sign which translates actually to "READ !" in English.

As quite a few Germans have some basic English ability or more a German native speaker probably wouldn't have chosen the wording like this, also as it is a rather impolite form.
Or not.
