Was just reading todays news and there's a prediction that Apple's expected iPhone 5 release later this year will kill HTC Q4 sales.

Good call getting out of this one. Good call to avoid this one. :bravo:

I just can't believe it. I thought I'd missed the boat with my hesitancy at the 350 mark. When do people think it might bottom out?

Like I said before this stock is a complete gamble at any price. They could announce a cool, new product and it could shoot back up. Or their market share could vanish. If I wanted to gamble I would go to the casino. If I wanted to invest then I would look towards index funds and similar long term holds.

Eps of 60x earnings is not a great valuation for a company with YOY revenue and margin decline. Look for something more like 10-20x earnings per share

Major support at 300TWD level. If this support breaks, all bets are off. I would wait to see if 300 holds. If it breaks through the next psychological support level is at 200. Between 300 and 200 there is no obvious support except for the 6-year low at 276, but it's a weak support level.

Price is discounting huge earnings decline. I would still avoid like the plague.

HTC closed at 288TWD on Friday. The primary support level at 300 has now been violated with the close below it. If the technical damage is not repaired next week, i.e. a solid close above 300, I would look out below 'cause 200 is the next real support. This stock is acting more and more like a falling knife http://www.investopedia.com/terms/f/fal ... z20eaIm6mR.

And investment experts caution: Never try to catch a falling knife.

there is a chance of buyable rebound in a certain range below 200 depending upon how quickly it arrives
that is, if it obliges

It's not looking too good now-or conversely, it's slowly becoming a possible buy, still a wee way to go...277 today

well, it's more that they reversed course and it looks bad, they still have half their initial investment in Dr Beat. Anyway, it is not that important in the long run-while stock markets are forward looking and HTC earnings are depressed and looking more depressing, right now it's in a technical slide that will stop when enough small investors have been hurt and got out, and when the large local investors judge it's a good spot.

Investing 300 million USD in what is essentially a headphone company (that probably doesn't even manufacture them), was a ridiculous gambit and sign of desperation.
