Thanks BC. I'm working in Kuwait now. It's great. No tax and great pay. Also its like in the center of the world so makes travelling to practically anywhere easy! But I still miss the food and nice looking girls in taiwan from time to time.

I'm a recent arrival to the east, and I had my first Psycho Xiaojie moment yesterday.

So I started chatting with a random local Asian girl over skype. First conversation lasted hours, we both lost track of time, good times. Second conversation was going the same, then out of no where, when I start talking about about neat places in the world I want to see/live at(this is why I got into teaching ESL in the first place) she just flipped out. Going on about how she thought I was a good guy and honest, but I must not be because I'm not ready to marry her, I guess immediately, and give up my plans to travel the world with ESL. She seemed to be under the impression that in less than 24 hours of time, she could get me to change all my life plans and become engaged? And was going on about being heartbroken. We never even did video chat.

Some girls are just cuckoo. I'm glad I found out so early on this one. So some advice for you guys out there, no matter how cute she is, watch for the red flags. When you see one get out, where there's smoke there's fire. I could have been one the guys here telling scary stories about a psycho X's showing up at work trying her best to ruin my life.

It's funny to me when people say that the TW women are immature for not dating. I find the American women who date a lot very immature. They never get to learn how to stand on their own, be alone, get a sense of their own accomplishments, how to handle down time, etc. When they have down time, they immediately pull out the cell phone. They don't learn how to balance their opinions and the opinions of others, so they think they are entitled to things they should earn and don't deserve things that could be easily given. In my opinion, spending time actually single (as opposed to dating around in a non-committed manner) is really helpful for personal development.

I find it very interesting, that this whole conversation is only about women. For every insecure (I'm not calling them Psycho) lady, there really is ten-fold Psycho (yes really as in the true definition) men, who destroy women physically and mentally.

All that bullshit about how women and men as SO different, you know, men are from Mars... Blah blah.

Communication between two people will lead to understanding, if both are prepared to be open and honest. It is all it takes, but this seems to be so hard to do? No wonder so many people are confused by others (and no one wants to look at their own actions first). Why we insist in driving wedges between the two sexes is beyond me. If we haven't already had enough suffering over the centuries, why do we seem so keen to carry on with all this bullshit ego male dominated guff? Yes I'm a man, yes I'm married, yes my wife is normal and well adjusted, yes she is Taiwanese, no I didn't meet her in Taiwan and I fell in love with her for her compassionate heart and strong confidence. I would follow her anywhere, she could rule the world for all I care. She is my better half.

Men and women need each other, it's the balance and harmony of life. Stop fucking it up. Have some respect.

Why would you think that your marriage is the norm? I am not saying that women are better or worse than men and I am not saying there are no psycho men in Taiwan (that would be a ridiculous claim), but this is a thread about Psycho Xiaojies. Why should there be anything else in this thread. You can't pick a book about serial killers to read and then complain about it displaying men as mass murderers. Walk around the library and see that there are other books (and threads). Btw. from all the women and girls I met in my years in Taiwan there is only ONE that meets your desciption, which sadly puts the odds well against you.

Hey Ryan, I'm not really making a specific statement about you. No disrespect intended to any person, I just find the very existence of this thread annoying, but yea sure it's entitled to be here and so is my comment. I never said my relationship was normal, it's unique. The point is, or rather the point I was making, is that Taiwan has nothing to do with it. I can go to any country and either have a positive relationship or not. And that these ladies (or the one in the video) are not psycho, at worse suffering mental illness (ok psychopaths are suffering from mental illness too), mostly they're just insecure people. You can choose to have a relationship with someone who is insecure, if you have the ability to deal with it. Is it their fault that you can't? That is another way of looking at it. I've tried in the past and had varying success in those relationships, but I never walked away from any of them thinking they were psycho, just that we couldn't find the right way to communicate together (and remorse I couldn't do better). We all know that blokes think with their dicks and then find it a surprise (when the dick is asleep) that the lady, who you wanted to dick actually has an opinion and it's different to yours! She actually doesn't want to play xbox and drink with your buddies! But wants you to go shopping, lo and behold you say no, and all hell breaks loose. One scenario in 1000's I can paint for you - where the communication is weak or strained and the emotional needs are not met by either party. Most actions I see are selfish ones that are led by ego. Again I'm not referring to a specific event or person here. The male ego is more often the bigger, because of the way sexes are raised, and is not going shopping. So what can you expect in return for such behaviour? Where the smart thing to do is go bloody shopping, then talk about your needs. If you take the piss, why won't she take the piss? But, too often this is just too gay for a bloke. Again is that a ladies fault? No! So we end up with the behaviour that suits the male ego. She acts irrationally, so must be something wrong with her. But most likely it's just the attitude actions of the male that have led to the behaviour in the first place.

So what I'm saying is treat people with respect. Sure women want to do different things to you and they want to be listened to but the reverse is true also. So were not different, we have the same needs - the ultimate need is happiness.

Obviously. However, most of the posters here are children for whom Taiwan is their first taste of living abroad, and these strange wimminfolks are quite possibly the first girlfriends they've ever had. At least, that's the impression the posts send out, loud and clear. If they're not, then God help 'em!
