If anything, it's Westerners, in sectors such as educational services (the lower level jobs in the East for Westerners), coming to China and Taiwan because of a lack of upward mobility in their home countries. If $80,000/year jobs were a dime a dozen for "basket weaving" grads, they'd be a lot of kindy returnees

Let me be controversial here and shout out "bullshit." If anything, China is the place to be in the world right now for upward mobility. That's why all the women are leaving the countryside to go into the cities for factory work. Or why western MBA grads are flocking to Shanghai and the supercities--they are loving the 8% growth---something Europe or North America sure ain't offering!
Don't listen to Western Marxists and their educational-service kindy teaching followers in Taiwan. If anything, it's Westerners, in sectors such as educational services (the lower level jobs for Westerners), coming to China and Taiwan because of a lack of upward mobility in their home countries. I think you have a "Gender Studies" graduate type of viewpoint of the Chinese!

PassionforTruth wrote:It sure seems like it. I've corresponded with women in mainland China and they seem a LOT more sincere, serious, straightforward and authentic, like girls were in the 1970's. They have not been corrupted with narcissism like Taiwan and the US have.
I used this free dating site called DateinAsia. Any of you use it too? I've met a lot of high quality women from China through it. But the Taiwanese women rarely ever write me back, and if they do, they are only polite and write bland things. They never offer to meet me or show personal interest.
But the girls in China write me everyday and show high interest. The difference is astounding. I used to think girls were the same in China and Taiwan. But now I know they are clearly not. Can anyone explain why they are different?
Any of you who have been to China want to comment?
By, the way, I'm a Chinese American, which is considered a hot item in China, much more than it is in Taiwan. So maybe that's a factor too.
Also, when I was in college, I noticed that students from mainland China seemed more relaxed and easygoing than the ones from Taiwan or Hong Kong.
However, the Chinese have a reputation for being repressed, cold and cliquish. So how do you explain that?
Any insights or experiences?

I think you have a "Gender Studies" graduate type of viewpoint of the Chinese women! That they are peasant-mien being saved by big bad paternalistic westerners with "yellow fever." In many cases, it's poor Westerners finding a sugar momma amongst the nouveux-riche!!
