You just have to look through the history of the european royal houses. Inbreeding causes many problems due to recessive genetic traits that happen to be malignant. Not saying that all recessive traits are malignant, but most malignant genetic ailments are recessive, like Down syndrome, hemophilia, etc.

Not having any recessive traits prevents that.

Down Syndrome is recessive? Sorry, but you're wrong that one. I'm sure there are a few examples of harmful recessive ailments, such as the hemophilia you mentioned. But even that's not solely recessive, because it's carried on the X chromosome, like red-green color blindness. But sometimes seemingly harmful recessive traits can be both good and bad. Sickle cell is a perfect example. You never know when a recessive trait will come along and save everyone's asses when the dominant trait turns out to be a detriment when the environment changes. I say keep spreading recessive genes around. Especially the trait for blue eyes in a brown eye dominant society

My point was that gene variety is good. The key word here is variety. Inbreeding gives ALWAYS bad results, due to undesirable recessive genes. And, as I said, not all recessive genes are bad. World would be a worse place without redheads with green eyes, for example.

You can find a clearer example with the dogs. Some races are breed to bring on recessive traits, like the english bulldog. But an english bulldog with a perfect pedigree also has many problems, derived from that "genetic purity": breathing, heart, skin problems... you name it. Mixed dogs seldom have problems related to their genes (they can catch another kinds of illness, though).
