finley: They exist. Go to any of the beaches on the east coast, or anywhere on the east coast for that matter. Of course, what Bubba is leaving out is that they'll be able to beat you in an arm wrestle (I've seen some of my female students beat some of my male students in an arm wrestle), they'll have a 200NTD/day binlang habit, they won't have any teeth, and by the age of 35, they'll look about 60. Seriously, I could probably count on both hands the number of girls at my school who will grow up to be good looking, and when I've seen their mothers or aunts, I've generally reeled in horror. I don't dig the pasty white chicken leg Taipei chicks, but the phrase "hot Taidong woman" is close enough to an oxymoron. If you were fielding a rugby team, this would be the place to go. A beauty pageant, not really.

I had an encounter with an Asian style squatter toilet today. I hate the damn things. I have heard some say that these toilets are better for your health for some reason. Can anybody tell me why some think that these toilets are better for your health than the Western counterparts? As far as I am concerned they were designed by a contortionist.

Better for your health?

They DO build up your thigh muscles from squatting, I guess...but if you tell TW women that, they will stop using them in favor of Western ones which will then become 'good for the woman' or some such nonsense.

Exactly. I'd have to hold it in for 3 months here in China if they didn't have squat loos.

It seems pretty clear though that squats are easier for your bowels, etc. Not to be to graphic but when squatting you are done in a minute and with minimum strain.
