Fair point, OP. I wouldn't, and I'm not even that furry. Taiwanese women are practically hairless to begin with, so I'd say you're being more than a bit picky here.

A lot of my Taiwanese girlfriends would complain about Western men they'd like to date if only they had less body hair. They found it gross to touch them or be touched, and couldn't understand why these men wouldn't shave it off.

Would you shave off your body hair if your gf wanted you to?

I have heard stuff like this from a lot of Taiwanese friends too. Which is fair enough I suppose. If men are allowed to make demands about that then so should women.

I'm an avid swimmer, so I already shave all-around without anyone having to tell me to.

But you make a good point, and no, I don't believe it's fair for a hairy, unkept man to ask his woman to be smooth and clean. Perhaps I'm being more finicky than most about this issue, but it's only because I shave myself and I just love the look and feel of smooth, hairless skin.

And I actually don't mind a little stubble. I'm not saying you have to shave every day to always keep it silky smooth. Once every couple of days is perfectly fine. Stubble is a million times better than allowing the rampant growth to run free simply because it's "not that much".

This is all too weird. I like bush, all this smooth hairless stuff is freaking me out. We ALL have hair. Sure shave some off but, hairless smooth and silky, dunno, I just think albino newt. Oh well. I'm in the hairy gang, apart from my rapidly balding head...
Just checking but you're a South African Engrish Teachur right? No. I'm a Russian nuclear physicist.

I would, if she asked, but she likes it. :idunno:

As to leg hair, if it's not noticeable, then fine, but it you can see it (black hair especially) then it should go.
As to "south of the border", I don't really care. I don't want it shaved, but if she feels comfortable trimming or whatever, go for it, just don't shave it all off!!
But there are other hygiene factors that are much more important IMO. Like washing your belly button. My SO actually washes herself everytime she uses the toilet.

Don't worry - either you'll find a girl willing to accomodate you on the issue or you'll learn to care less about it.

I think Albertos Y Los Trios Paranoias said it best:
"I like gurls with treetrunk thighs and little hairy chests
I like gurls three times my size who wear thick woolen vests
I like gurls who shave their knees but leave a neat moustache
I like gurls who spread disease and never, ever wash

Big-breasted gurls just aint my kind
I got a kick for the crippled, the old and the blind
Ugly gurls are my cup of tea
But there aint no gurl as ugly as MEEEE!

So dim the lights and pull the shades
And take your neck brace off
Put your head inside a bag
And lets make ugly luuuurve

If your body is as ugly
As your complexion and your smell
YOu better take ... sorry, forgot the rest of the words.

It seems my original intent is getting a bit skewed.

Let me clarify that the whole hairless thing is mainly for legs. Girls here already shave under the arms. As for arm hair, I don't really care unless it's really a lot. Same for bush.

But legs, the stairways to heaven, should always be silky smooth :-)

Ugh, now that he mentions bellybutton, when my friend had her operation, the nurse and I were helping her bath, with all the cables and tubes and stuff. I was there when the nurse was helping clean the bellybutton as the doctors "went in" from there. Disaster, I tell you. Suffice to say, ever since, I've grown a bit too zealous over mine, it gets alcohol. Worse, when I was retelling the operation saga to other Taiwanese female friends, I discovered much to my horror that cleaning of this sensitive area was terra incognita for them. Same friends go for mani/pedicures about every two weeks.:noway:

There are certain distant corners of the human body that require a private and careful inspection once in a blue moon -ankles come to mind- but would benefit from more constant upkeep. It is amazing that maintenance, being it of vehicles, electronics or body parts seems such an often undervalued and even forgotten concept. *sigh*

As to guys, please do not shave. If you find it unconfortable, if you have a medical condition, OK, but for me, having more hair than most local males is reason to appreciate the furry side of things. I have me some foreigner coworkers that I reach out to say hi just for the spirit uplift of gazing at those arms... :howyoudoin:
