A lot of my Taiwanese girlfriends would complain about Western men they'd like to date if only they had less body hair. They found it gross to touch them or be touched, and couldn't understand why these men wouldn't shave it off.
Would you shave off your body hair if your gf wanted you to?
I would, if she asked, but she likes it.

As to leg hair, if it's not noticeable, then fine, but it you can see it (black hair especially) then it should go.
As to "south of the border", I don't really care. I don't want it shaved, but if she feels comfortable trimming or whatever, go for it, just don't shave it all off!!
But there are other hygiene factors that are much more important IMO. Like washing your belly button. My SO actually washes herself everytime she uses the toilet.

Ugh, now that he mentions bellybutton, when my friend had her operation, the nurse and I were helping her bath, with all the cables and tubes and stuff. I was there when the nurse was helping clean the bellybutton as the doctors "went in" from there. Disaster, I tell you. Suffice to say, ever since, I've grown a bit too zealous over mine, it gets alcohol. Worse, when I was retelling the operation saga to other Taiwanese female friends, I discovered much to my horror that cleaning of this sensitive area was terra incognita for them.

Same friends go for mani/pedicures about every two weeks.
There are certain distant corners of the human body that require a private and careful inspection once in a blue moon -ankles come to mind- but would benefit from more constant upkeep. It is amazing that maintenance, being it of vehicles, electronics or body parts seems such an often undervalued and even forgotten concept. *sigh*
As to guys, please do not shave. If you find it unconfortable, if you have a medical condition, OK, but for me, having more hair than most local males is reason to appreciate the furry side of things. I have me some foreigner coworkers that I reach out to say hi just for the spirit uplift of gazing at those arms...
