Technology at your service. :no-no:

Personally, I think it sucks. Not to mention demeaning and insulting. But that is my point of view. The reaction at the beauty salon was so matter of factly that it was shocking. But I wonder how many people are being followed/tracked without knowing it.

I wonder how that is possible. I imagine it would be possible to track an approximate location from the ping to cell phone towers by somehow pinging the number. Maybe the tower sends a "tower accessed" code or something. If the phone keeps the GPS on, the phone number could be tracked by GPS (maybe access the GPS satellite network and query the phone number and last location?) But with the GPS off and a program not installed on the target phone, how do you track it? I admit that I'm not the expert in this field, but it seems like you cannot do that. Perhaps you might be able to hack into the phone using the WIFI or 3G connection and install an app on the target phone that way or perhaps somehow use their Line or Facebook accounts in some way.

I am useless in techical stuff. I only know what I saw and heard: the GF tracking the BF using some kind of thing that tells her where the man is. And it seemed to me, as it was presented, that it was no high tech james Bond stuff, but rather something that locals know of.

Maybe someone with better/more updated knwoledge of current apps and other whatchamacalits can help. What I am concerned is whether someone is being tracked wthout knowing.

MarketWatch has an interesting article on that and lists 5 apps that allow tracking someone's phone: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/5-apps-for-spying-on-your-spouse-2014-03-10.

However, all of them needs to be installed at the target phone as well.

But what Icon is saying is more like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBQnvpJyfXU

Acutally, she says at the beginning of the video that you need to "install the app on any phone or device you want to monitor."

I think it's possible to install the app on bf's phone without knowing. I mean, depending on how the bf is using his phone, he may not ever open his app menu, but use shortcuts. So, he'd never know that the app was installed on his phone.

This is also assuming he's not checking the apps running in the background, uninstalling unneeded apps AND leaving his GPS on 24/7.

Or to keep said gf, the bf consents to the ball and chains.
