But what is character? You, for example, appear to be a person who enjoyed sports in your youth. (Indeed at my age I would say you are still "in" your youth.) Was that something you "willed" yourslef into or was it the natural consequence of being born with a strong body in a place where sports were available? Not everyone is that "lucky". Some people are born with better brains than bodies. Some are not naturally inclined to be very physical. They don't "enjoy" exercise. They are, however, constantly encouraged to eat, and many have jobs that don't allow much time for exercise. Are these peope "character disordered"? You are wrong on so many levels here I can hardly keep up with it.

You are certainly "right" though about needing to be imaginative about how to exercise.

Gosh, I really hope that if that happens, some kid doesn't insult you for being a useless drain on society. Riding a scooter is a choice, you know.

I hope he does. I hope he puts me on a hill for the wolves to eat or the elements to claim, before I get to the drooling on myself stage.

sporting injuries or scooter accidents actually prevent me from exercising.

So through your lack of care in ensuring that your body stays healthy and your willingness to jeopardise your health by riding on a scooter, you'll have allowed yourself to become obese. And you have the gall to complain about OTHER people's character flaws!

Aiyo... As if!

Possibly. But then, probably not. Why do people think that rudeness is arrogant? You probably just did a comical newbie post; can't see that I would have been personal. I mock everyone, pretty much, including myself.

I agree, there's a big difference in my current posting style compared with early on. I got a lot sharper after I'd had a few nasty personal comments. I'm not realy apologising, though. Tolerance works both ways and I'm expected to tolerate a hell of a lot in order to participate here.

Toodle pip. I have to go and catch a train to the north, now. Sweet dreams.

After a looooooong search:

Da Flob rules:

* This is a message board for people interested in expat life in Taiwan.
* Treat people with respect. Don’t be rude or bigoted. Discuss the message, not the messenger.
* Familiarize yourself with the site before you start posting.
* Respect the wishes of the moderators and administrators.

If you are going to disagree with someone, please stick to the message rather than the messenger. For example, if someone posts factually incorrect information, it is appropriate to say, “your facts are wrong,” but it is not appropriate to say “you are a liar.”

Now, the Mods have already flamed one of my posts for calling you out...now it's your turn.

Not at all. Only goofy liberals stuck in the 70s think that one can't criticize intolerance with force and vigor and some pointed put-downs. Hey, don't let me get started on you, buddy. :)

It appears that other places also have some of this heritage stuff. And are also old. Like, really old.”

When you're searching for something on the Web using, say, Google, put quotes around phrases that must be searched together. For example, if you put quotes around "electric curtains," Google won't waste your time finding one set of Web pages containing the word "electric" and another set containing the word "curtains."
