WCIF a small crate for shipping my cat back

Postby jdsmith » 02 Apr 2012, 09:57

Hey there, animal lovers, I need to know where I can get me a crate to ship my cat back to NY. New or used is OK.

Thanks

Does it have to be a crate? Can't you use one of those cat-box thingies?

The vet told me it has to be able to support 100kg. The box won't do that.

No simple crate will do. For instance, when I worked at teh airline, thecrate had to be of a certain certified type, non collapsible, and big enough for teh animal to turn around. Furthermore, teh screws have to be adjusted backwads, meaning you can easily spot if one comes loose and hence tehre is a risk of the pet coming out. I remember having to rememove the screws many time sfrom crates and placing them the airline way at the counter right before checking in...

I'd reccomend going to one of the big stores in Keelung (Jilong) road -I remember places like Royal Cat and Pet Garden having a selection of airline approved crates. Also, Top Vet had some last time I was there, smaller ones, suitable for cats.

Remember you have to "book" your pet on the flight -only so many pets allowed per flight- and check the dates -sometimes depending on weather conditions, no pets are allowed in the cargo hold.

I was under the impression that one can keep a small animal as "hand luggage". Am I incorrect?

Depends on the airline/lenght of flight/etc.

I'm no psychologist, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that a guy who calls himself King James and has his initials and "Vivat Rex" -- Latin for "Long live the king" -- on his custom-made Nike jacket, and has CHOSEN 1 tattooed across his back and WITNESS tattooed on one calf and HISTORY on the other calf might have a big ego. It is an ego borne of insecurity, and this is why he left for Miami in the first place: He wanted things to be easier. He wanted Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh at his side and South Beach a short drive away. That is the fundamental disconnect between James and Cleveland fans. They gave up on easy a long time ago.
