The cockroaches are attracted to the sugar water, they consume the sugar and baking soda mix, and the baking soda fills them with gas. Because they breath by expanding their exoskeleton, they can't burp. So they literally explode.

Do they pop like corn?

The neighbors were quite amused.

I saw one of those Super Big Flying Roaches a couple days back. I was at the park eating dinner when I heard

zzzzzzZZZZZSPLAT. And he landed right next to me. "Howdy neighbour. I see you're eating some tempura. You... Wanna give it to me?"

We are all very courageous... until the roach takes off flying!

I was reminded of this thread last night. I woke up in the middle of the night to a huge roach flying around my room. I elbowed my cats, who were sleeping next to me, told them to get to it. One of them got up, stretched... and got off the bed to get a drink of water. Sigh.

Then this morning as I poured some milk in my coffee I found a medium sized roach doing her spa in it. Sigh.

My computer has exploded for the fourth consecutive time due to mini roaches in the power thinghie. Sigh.

my place is oddly mostly roach free since Milktea moved in. A year ago this time I'd be spraying alcohol on flying giant roaches to get them to drop... It could also be the coming and going of neighbors.

In any case, it's good that my 75% industrial alcohol can now serve it's original function of cleaning and disinfecting my place.

Had a few encounters recently. The first major one was when I left some food out.. havent done that since. The bastard ran into the hob. Which is pretty annoying because if they can get in through there it sucks.. i covered the hob for like a month anyway if it was just a hiding place the thing would of died in that time without food or water.

Then recently I had 2 come out at the same time. No food around so i dunno why. One bit the dust pretty quick but another hid behind the sink. Very slim gap. I slammed a knife down it and it came back with brown cockroach blood on it so I think that one died too.

Then a couple of days ago I had one of those nightmare flying ones.. luckily it was a bad flyer so i squashed it with a doormat fairly quickly.. but it was still a traumatic experience to see one flying at you..

Im going to be taking the advicr of buying drain covers for sure.. that seems the most likely place they are entering.

So, just before the holidays, I cleaned my desk and sprayed insecticide. Put a couple of COMBAT roach traps for good measure.

Retaliation was swift. Computer exploded again yesterday. Culprit: fried roaches in the power source. Typing this from someone else's work station... *sigh*
