Looking for Western parents who adopted Taiwanese children and still living in Taiwan...

Postby peopleslinguist » 27 Apr 2012, 10:48

Hi everyone!

I'm Breanna. I'm an American (from Ohio) in grad school getting my Master's in linguistics at Providence University in Taichung/Shalu.

I am writing to you all because I am looking for participants for my thesis. My focus is on language use and international adoption in Taiwan.

I am looking for American or Western parents in Taichung or anywhere in Taiwan that have adopted a Taiwanese child or children (over the age of three) and are STILL LIVING in Taiwan. I am interested in the adopted children's language use. If you know anyone, please send them my email: BreBre711@gmail.com.

I already have two families that I'm waiting to interview but I'm interested in hearing more stories, not just from a scholarly point of view but also as a journalist to help break any negative stereotypes that relate to international adoption.

Thank you for your time and if you have any questions, please feel free to post!

Also, I'm also looking to interview employees/employers of orphanages in Taiwan to interview them on the language development of the adoptive children.

Thanks again!
