Postby Skater bum » 16 May 2012, 01:15

Can anyone recommend a good book that has many English bible stories for children?

It isn't exactly a book, but I love this website where the Bible stories are told with LEGO pieces, even though I am not a Christian, I found them pretty amusing and interesting, as well as artistically well thought and well done.

How old are the children who will be reading it?

My boys (7 and under) really enjoy the Storybook Bible:
http://www.amazon.com/The-Jesus-Storybo ... 011&sr=8-1

The stories are retold in a way that is easy for children to understand, and the illustrations are beautiful--not the typical cartoon-y illustrations found in most children's Bibles.

We also have this one and like it:

I think I posted one of those Lego Bible Story clips last year in the New Testament quiz thread.

I think they had Jesus in the wrong end of the boat when he calmed the storm, so don't rely on the Legos to be an accurate depiction of what happened thousands of years ago.

If someone asks for a recommendation on a children's Christian book, then don't recommend an atheist one. It's rude. Show some respect.

I would recommend the Lion Graphic Bible: http://www.amazon.com/Lion-Graphic-Bibl ... 286&sr=8-2

Or the Action Bible: http://www.amazon.com/The-Action-Bible- ... 286&sr=8-1

We have the Lion Graphic and it's good but the Action Bible is likely better for boys.

Taipei City Library has a fair amount of religious books for kids (B2), and for adults (4F).

Jianguo Rd. East side of Da'an Park.

Check it out, man.

My seven-year-old really liked that Beginners Bible. It was easy and clear enough for him to read.

I think that Richard Dawkins new children's book..

http://notaboutreligion.com/2011/05/15/ ... -for-kids/

... gives a something of an introduction to the Bible and adds a bit of information about none of it's supernatural elements being "true" in a literal sense. He provides background on other religions as well and explains that creation myths and all the rest of it are common to all primitive cultures.
