The last couple of times I've gone to the cinema, there've been trailers before it showing a white girl wandering around Taipei, doing stuff like visiting night markets and reading at dawn. The tag line at the end is "You are not alone".

It doesn't seem to be actually selling anything, just ... reassuring foreigners.

I'm curious as to why. Have there been more of us than usual getting off the plane and going crazy in the first week?

Is the trailer in Chinese? (apart from the "you are not alone")?

The ad shows the girl wandering aimlessly looking lost and scared, and only happy when she is with other foreigners.

I believe the message is 'Foreigners, you are not alone as long as you are with other foreigners - so stay with your own kind and don't talk to us'. That's what I get. The fact that it's all in Chinese makes it even more obvious.

Hmm... thanks for the link.

Nice ad. I'm curious about the reason for making it. Really.

And isn't **** sexy when she shoves that squid down her cake-hole? Grrr!

They should do that ad, but with me getting up before dawn, getting on my bike and driving to the top of a gorgeous mtn, reaching the summit at sun up and being met by 50 Taiwanese hikers and me screaming

"I'm NEVER ALONE!!!!"

I didn't think she looked scared. I didn't think it was telling us to stick to our own kind. I think it was saying, 'Taiwan is a pretty cool place, and anyone can get along here. You may even meet people from your own culture too.'

But... It also didn't seem to imply that the girl was working here... so maybe its a tourism advert. In which case... its a pretty dumb thing to show it to a bunch of people who are already here. They should be showing it in other countries, surely. Like, in the Gabon or something...
